Being an entrepreneur comes with a fair share of challenges, but none that are insurmountable. Here are six tips to help you achieve success at any stage of the entrepreneurial journey, whether you’re just getting started or are already a seasoned businesswoman.
Start by focusing on your mindset.
The narrative you tell yourself is the narrative that plays out in real life. If you constantly doubt yourself, that negative mindset will become a hindrance to your growth and success. On the flip side, if you maintain a positive mindset, that will help you achieve success and allow you to push through challenges without letting them get you down.
Embrace the challenges.
Challenges are simply a part of business, and they should be not only embraced but celebrated. A challenge can push you outside of your comfort zone and spark new ideas. Gala Darling, a transformation coach, believes that “problems create growth for people. I think our biggest problem is that we think we shouldn’t have any problems. But if fact, it’s the difficulties and the struggles that help us.” Riana Milne, a Psychotherapist and certified mindset coach agrees, saying that “we should expect challenges, but it’s important to have a positive mindset that keeps you going no matter what challenges you experience.”
Don’t be afraid to make waves.
If you want to be successful, you can’t be afraid to make waves. Push the boundaries, step outside of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to try something even if it hasn’t been done before. Don’t worry about the people that tell you it’s not possible or try to hold you down. It’s when you dream bigger and push yourself harder that things really happen. As Darling says, “It’s really easy to avoid criticism by being small and hiding your light under a bushel and not trying to offend anyone. If you really want to make waves and change things, you’re going to rub some people the wrong way.” Milne adds, “when you believe in what you do it doesn’t matter what the noise says. Just keep going, just keep believing in yourself.”
Identify and eliminate your limiting beliefs.
Everyone has limiting beliefs, but the people who are the most successful find ways to eliminate them. The first step to eliminating them is to identify and acknowledge those beliefs. Don’t allow yourself to feel shame for having them, just acknowledge that those feelings are there.
MORE FOR YOU
Once you identify the limiting beliefs you can begin to overcome them. Start to question and challenge those beliefs. Come up with as many reasons as possible as to why a belief is false, and every time it pops into your head, immediately follow it up with one of those reasons. The more you do this, the quicker that limiting belief will stop holding you back.
Don’t try to please everyone.
When you spend too much time trying to please others, you often lose sight of yourself, and that can cause you to question your ideas and derail your business plans. Paige Michelle, a human potential coach, advises women to “have confidence in your opinions. Sometimes, especially as a young woman, you spend too much time making sure everyone’s pleased and everyone likes what you have to say rather than being yourself.” What’s most important is that you stay true to yourself.
Manage your stress.
If you don’t manage your stress, your stress will manage you. Gone are the days where stress was worn as a badge of honor. Instead, it’s important to focus on your overall health and wellness to keep stress at bay. Focus on nourishing your body with healthy food, hydration, and exercise, and make sleep a priority. Melanie Avalon, a lifestyle coach, advises women to “respect your sleep, and do everything in your power to get a good night’s rest.” Sleep truly is a great antidote to stress.
To help reduce stress during the day, try to get outside and spend some time in nature. If that’s not possible, bring nature to you by putting a plant (or a picture of a plant if you don’t have a green thumb) on your desk. This helps promote a sense of calm, and gives you something to focus on in moments of stress or frustration.
Once you’ve mastered all of these things, you’ll be well on your way to achieving success.
