Businessman Robert Backie and ex-FBI agent and company investigator Kim George have been his main rivals. Axios reported that Schweikert led each events’ fields in fundraising, bringing in $2.5 million. Two of the highest Democrats had raised about $1.5 million every.
Schweikert has served within the Home for almost 15 years and has gained re-election in numerous redrawn districts since being elected in 2010.
Candidates hoping to oust him in November included ex-state celebration chair and 2010 state treasurer nominee Andrei Cherny, ex-local information anchor Marlene Galán-Woods, orthodontist Andrew Horne, ex-regional American Pink Cross CEO Kurt Kroemer, funding banker Conor O’Callaghan and ex-state Rep.
