An effort by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to dam sure U.S. weapons gross sales to Israel was overwhelmingly rejected by the U.S. Senate Wednesday night.
Sanders’ joint decision of disapproval, which was supported by Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; and Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., supposed to cease the White Home’s newest arms gross sales to the Israeli army. An effort to dam the gross sales of tank rounds to Israel was voted down 79-18, and a measure intending to dam mortar spherical shipments was rejected 78-19.
Talking on the Senate flooring, Sanders claimed the Israeli authorities is managed “not only by right-wing extremists, but by religious zealots.”
“It is time to tell the Netanyahu government that they cannot use U.S. taxpayer dollars and American weapons in violation of U.S. and international law and our moral values despite receiving $18 billion from U.S. taxpayers in the last year,” Sanders mentioned.

“And being the most important historic recipient of U.S. international help, the Netanyahu authorities has utterly ignored the repeated requests of President Biden and the U.S. authorities.”
The 83-year-old politician additionally decried dwelling situations in Gaza throughout his speech.

“The failure by the Biden administration to comply with U.S. legislation and to droop arms shipments is a grave mistake that undermines American credibility worldwide,” Warren said in a statement to The Guardian.
“If this administration won’t act, Congress should step as much as implement U.S. legislation and maintain the Netanyahu authorities accountable by way of a joint decision of disapproval.”
