In her first massive speech since conceding the election to Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke to college students on the Maryland Corps service yr program on Tuesday.
“I do believe that public service is a noble calling,” Harris instructed a gaggle of scholars, graduates, and volunteers at Prince George’s Group School. “It is noble work and it is an expression of optimism.”
“The work you do in service will affect people who, for the most part, will never know your names,” Harris stated. “But their lives, because of your work and your dedication, will forever be touched in a positive way.”
“Younger people who find themselves rightly impatient for change. I like that about you,” the vice chairman stated. “You will not allow your spirit or your sense of purpose to be defeated.”
“As we then approach the end of this year, many people have come up to me telling me they feel tired, maybe even resigned,” Harris continued. “However let me be very clear. Nobody can stroll away. We should keep within the combat. Each considered one of us.“
The Maryland Corps program is an initiative of Maryland’s Democratic Gov. Wes Moore. It’s a proposal of compensated service for 60,000 graduating college students who aren’t essentially going to school, right into a profession, or into the army.
What the vice chairman will do subsequent is the topic of a lot hypothesis, with possiblities of operating for governor in her house state of California and even one other presidential run.
