“But the real reason I’m in Malta of course is because it was the site of 10 separate bubonic plague outbreaks,” he added. “So they thought I would fit right in.”
“I want to thank the people of Tahiti for their warmth, their hospitality, their generosity and for only occasionally looking at my foot and and whispering ‘Chupacabra!'”
On July 26, Jost shared a photograph of his bloodied foot on Instagram after scraping it on a coral reef.
“This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me,” he joked in his caption. Days later, he posted one other pic of his foot — this time lined in bandages — after struggling a staph an infection.
“You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes,” he cracked.
