A Texas man is in FBI custody on Thursday after authorities say he tried to help ISIS and deliberate a terrorist assault on American soil – all from his condo in Houston.
Authorities mentioned 28-year-old Anas Stated was trying to find methods to commit violent acts on behalf of the Islamic State within the Houston space. He has been charged with trying to offer materials help to the terrorist group.

That wasn’t true, according to the DOJ.
“On or about October 18, 2023, pursuant to authorized course of, FBI acquired info from Meta Platforms, Inc. (‘Meta’) concerning 11 Fb accounts utilized by the Defendant that confirmed he continued to help ISIS and the violent assaults carried out in its title,” according to the DOJ.
His family members “expressed their issues” in FBI interviews, and “subsequent evaluation of the Defendant’s digital gadgets revealed a number of encrypted messaging functions containing information of his efforts to create and disseminate propaganda that glorified ISIS’s ongoing violence, the proof underlying the fabric help offense charged within the indictment,” the department alleged.
