Harry Langdon
Within the late Seventies, Tina Turner, embarking on her solo profession after leaving her abusive marriage, teamed up with designer Bob Mackie to craft her iconic stage picture.
Turner wished an operatic look, resulting in beautiful designs like Mackie’s flame costume and daring outfits that highlighted her well-known legs. Mackie’s creations, usually that includes daring slits and built-in trunks, showcased her highly effective presence and strut, embodying the liberty and pleasure she radiated as a solo star. Reflecting on their collaboration, Mackie admired Turner’s skill to affect audiences, saying, “She generated such joy—and that’s what entertainers should do.”
