Another quarter, another new MCU series on Disney Plus. These days, Marvel’s TV shows seem to be overshadowing its films like Black Widow, The Eternals and Shang-Chi to a certain extent, and while that may be about to change with Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s clear Disney has found massive success with these new streaming series in Phase 4 of the MCU.
But which ones are the most popular? Disney doesn’t share actual viewing numbers often, if ever, so we have to sort of judge this based on which ones fans liked the most. I’d argue WandaVision probably has the most fervent social media fanbase, but it’s often a three way battle between Hailee Steinfeld stans, Elizabeth Olsen stans and Tom Hiddleston stans in terms of getting their fav to trend.
Looking at all four shows that have aired so far, there may not be an ultra-clear winner. Here’s how the show are rated by viewers on Rotten Tomatoes:
- Loki – 90% audience score (92% critic score)
- WandaVision – 86% audience score (91% critic score)
- Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 82% audience score (89% critic score)
- Hawkeye – 80% audience score (92% critic score)

And on Metacritic:
- WandaVision – 77 Metascore (7.0 user score)
- Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 74 Metascore (5.7 user score)
- Hawkeye – 66 Metascore (6.9 user score)
- Loki – 61 Metascore (5.7 user score)
And finally, on IMDB:
- Loki – 8.3/10 user score
- Hawkeye – 8.1/10 user score
- WandaVision – 8.0 user score
- Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 7.3/10 user score
So to recap:
- Loki has the highest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and is tied with Hawkeye for critic score. It also has the highest IMDB score.
- WandaVision has the highest Metascore in terms of average review score, plus the highest user score there.
- Hawkeye is tied for highest Rotten Tomatoes critic score, but that’s it.
- Falcon and the Winder Soldier has the lowest audience scores across the board, but its critic scores are probably in the top half of the shows.
Add on top of all of this, third party measurement says that Hawkeye has the most “demand” for an MCU series compared to the others, but again, no actual viewership numbers. Google Trends, meanwhile, has Loki on top overall:
I think it’s impressive that more or less all of these are…pretty darn close to each other in terms of audiences receiving more or less all of them pretty well. Falcon and the Winter Soldier may be the outlier in terms of lower audience scores, and personally I’d agree the series wasn’t quite at the same level as the other three. It just seems like a much more…standard MCU outing than the creativity that have populated the other three. But it was great to see Falcon pick up the Captain America mantle.
My gut tells me that Loki may be the most popular overall series, but it’s very close with WandaVision. Hawkeye still isn’t done yet, and interest could surge once the show introduces rumored figures like Kingpin, or we see more of Black Widow’s Yelena.
WandaVision is confirmed not to be getting a second series, while Loki is confirmed to have a season 2. Falcon and the Winter Soldier is continuing on in Captain America 4. We don’t know what happens with Kate Bishop after Hawkeye season 1 yet.
After this, we have a whole new slate of MCU shows coming, namely Secret Invasion, She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. Given that half of these shows aren’t returning, we need something to replace them, and I’ll be curious to see how all these other shows go as well.
