Former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney will vote for Kamala Harris, his daughter Liz Cheney, a former U.S. consultant, stated at The Texas Tribune Pageant on Friday.
Cheney, a Wyoming Republican, additionally endorsed Democrat Colin Allred in his race to beat Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
Cheney endorsed Harris earlier this week at Duke College. She has been one among Donald Trump’s chief critics, calling the previous Republican unfit for workplace because the assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“Dick Cheney will be voting for Kamala Harris,” she stated of her father, who served as vp beneath President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. “If you think about the moment we’re in, and you think about how serious this moment is, my dad believes—and he said publicly—there has never been an individual in our country who is as grave a threat to our democracy as Donald Trump is.”
Since dropping her Home seat, Liz Cheney has labored to beat again election denialism within the Republican Social gathering, in some situations supporting Democrats.
“One of the most important things we need to do as a country as we begin to rebuild our politics is we need to elect serious people,” Liz Cheney stated. “Here in Texas, you guys do have a tremendous, serious candidate running for U.S. Senate.”
The viewers erupted in applause slicing Liz Cheney off.
“It’s not Ted Cruz,” she stated.
She blamed Cruz for main the hassle within the Senate for making an attempt to overturn the election.
“That is not somebody to put in a position to be able to do that again,” Cheney stated.
In formally endorsing Allred, Cheney recalled briefly working with the Democrat in Congress.
“You might not agree on every policy position, but we need people who are going to serve in good faith,” she stated. “And on this race, it’s Colin Allred. And I’ll be engaged on his behalf.”
