Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso are companions in life and in work!
ET’s Rachel Smith spoke to the 53-year-old actor on the New York premiere of The Instigators, and he mentioned teaming up along with his spouse of almost twenty years on the Apple TV+ movie.
When Casey Affleck got here to Damon with The Instigators script that he co-wrote with Chuck MacLean, the actor handed on the challenge. So Affleck responded by displaying the script to Barroso, who urged her husband to take it on.
“Casey likes saying she is the smart one in the couple and he’s not wrong,” Damon quipped of his spouse.
The Instigators, which follows two robbers (Damon and Affleck) who should go on the run with the assistance of one in all their therapists (Hong Chau) after a theft does not go as deliberate, marks the primary time Damon and Barroso formally teamed as much as produce a movie collectively.
“She’s been reading every script and watching every cut of every movie for 21 years. This is the first time we ever kind of codified it,” Damon defined. “She didn’t even want to take the credit. She was there every day, she was doing all this work on the script, and then she was like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to take the credit.'”
“The other producers on the movie, at the end of the movie — and I had nothing to do with it — they came of their own volition [and said], ‘If you’re not taking credit, we’re not taking credit,'” he continued. “[It was] very sweet. She succumbed and took the credit.”
Damon and Barroso had been each readily available for Wednesday’s screening of the Doug Liman-directed movie. The couple even introduced their daughters — Isabella, 18, Gia, 15, and Stella, 13 — to the occasion, together with Barroso’s 24-year-old daughter from a earlier relationship, Alexia.
“It happens fast. It’s weird,” Damon informed ET of his youngsters rising up. “It happens kind of slowly and then really fast in a beautiful way.”
The Instigators will hit choose theaters Aug. 2 and start streaming on Apple TV+ Aug. 9.
