In just a few hours, Billboard will refresh its weekly charts once again, and there will be a new No. 1 on the Top Album Sales list, which ranks the titles that actually sold the most copies (as opposed to the Billboard 200, which also includes other forms of consumption). For the moment NCT 127 continues to rule, as their latest release Sticker opens in first place on the purchase-only list, thanks to 58,000 sales. With one more win anywhere on the 100-spot tally, the South Korean group makes history among their countrymen and breaks out of a tie with several other beloved acts from the Asian territory.
Sticker is NCT 127’s fourth title to find space on the Top Album Sales chart at any point, and that stands as one of the more impressive counts among all South Korean musical acts. With four placements on the purchase-foused ranking to their name, NCT 127 moves up on the all-time ranking of the acts with the most placements on the list, claiming the fifth-most appearances among artists hailing from the K-pop capital of the world.
BTS remain the only South Korean act to chart double-digit titles on the Top Album Sales tally. Thus far, they have sent 11 different collections to the list, with nine reaching the top 10 and five conquering the ranking.
Coming in second place when looking at those South Korean musical acts that have placed the most titles on the Top Album Sales chart is Tomorrow X Together, or TXT for short. The group has pushed half a dozen releases to the list, coming in one win ahead of both Exo and Got7, two of the most successful acts from the country.
MORE FOR YOU
Before Sticker arrived, NCT 127 had three Top Album Sales-charting releases included in their discography, which was enough to put them on the same level as fellow K-pop powerhouse acts like G-Dragon, Blackpink, Twice, Monsta X and Ateez. The latter act collected their third placement on the tally just a week prior.
This lineup is sure to change in the coming weeks and months, as the biggest and most beloved artists from South Korea continue to score wins in America.
