PlayStation Plus January 2022
Each month, PlayStation Plus subscribers wait eagerly to find out what next month’s lineup of free games will be. It’s the kind of waiting that’s half excitement and half trepidation. After all, Sony gives out as many duds as gems—sometimes more.
2021 has been a bit of a mixed bag, but if the latest leak for January 2022’s PlayStation Plus lineup is accurate, it looks like we’ll be off to a good start in the new year.
Sometimes when I write my predictions post, no games have been leaked and all we have to go off of is based on are clues and assumptions. Sometimes we’ll see a game is releasing on the same day as the following month’s PS Plus titles, making it that much more likely that it might be one of the free games.
Other times, there’s a new release in a franchise about to hit shelves a month or two from now, making it likely that an older game in that series might be given away to help build hype.
There’s also the process of elimination. If Sony has already given away a PS Plus freebie, it’s unlikely it’ll show up again (I’m not sure this has ever happened outside the PS5’s PS Plus Collection, but I could be wrong).
This time, however, we have a credible leak which makes predictions somewhat pointless. Furthermore, the leak is for a pretty solid lineup of games, which means I don’t really need to write a wish list about which games I’d rather get next month. There have been months when the lineup is so dreadful, a wish list of alternatives can be fun to write.
But January 2022—if the leak is accurate—looks like a great month to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber. If you just joined the service, you have impeccable timing. Here are the leaked PS Plus games for January 2022:

I admit, I kind of wish the leakers would hold off until the very last minute so we could have some fun predicting what we’re getting the next month. Either that or I’ll need to start writing these way, way earlier, before anyone is really thinking about next month yet.
New PS Plus games for the following month are typically revealed on the final Wednesday of the current month, with the games themselves releasing the next Tuesday.
So this month we’ll get the official announcement from Sony on Wednesday, December 29th with the games coming to PS Plus on January 4th. You can still download December’s free games until Monday the 3rd.
It’s unrealistic, I know, but it would be kind of cool if leakers would at least wait until the last Monday of the month to leak the upcoming lineup.
