Walt Disney World Annual Passes Will Resume Sales September 8

Walt Disney World has announced that annual passes will resume sales September 8. The annual pass program went on a brief hiatus following the closures of Walt Disney World in March 2020. Starting September 8 Disney loyalists can purchase one of four new passes that have been slightly modified from the old annual pass program. The new passes will start at $399 plus tax and go up to $1299 plus tax.

As part of the new program Disney will be allowing guests to add on Disney PhotoPass downloads and Water Park and Sport options for an additional $99 each. Current Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can get a renewal discount of 15 percent for both add-ons when they renew. The upcoming Genie+ and Lightning Lane are not currently available as add-ons for Annual Passes.

Disney is suggesting that if you’re considering upgrading an existing ticket to an annual pass to wait until the last day you plan on being in the park. This is because when you upgrade your ticket your current park reservations will automatically be canceled and you’ll have to rebook, potentially not getting the same park as you planned previously.

Current Annual Passholders should not be worried. If you have the current pass or recently renewed nothing will be changing, including benefits, except you can now book more than the previously allotted three park reservations.

Breakdown of new Annual Pass levels

The Pixie Dust Pass ($399 plus tax) is for Florida residents only, and is similar to the previous Weekday Select pass. This pass allows you to have up to three “Annual Passholder” park reservations at a time.

The Pirate Pass ($699 plus tax) for Florida residents is similar to the previous Silver pass. This pass allows the holder to have up to four “Annual Passholder” park reservations at a time.

The new Sorcerer Pass ($899 plus tax) is for Florida residents and Disney Vacation Club members with a blue ID card, and is similar to the previous Gold pass. This pass allows guests to have up to five “Annual Passholder” park reservations at a time.

The Incredi-pass ($1299 plus tax) is for all guests, no matter where they live or if they are part of a Disney membership program, and is similar to the previous Platinum pass. This pass allows for up to five “Annual Passholder” park reservations at a time.

Each pass also gives guests the ability to book additional park passes if they are staying at a Walt Disney World hotel, with park reservations available for each day of their stay. Throughout the year Walt Disney World will also be adding bonus reservation days, which will show up on the park reservation calendar as “bonus” and won’t count against your current park reservation allotment.

Walt Disney World Annual Passes are sure to boost the bottom line of The Walt Disney Company over the coming months as people flock back to the theme parks for the resort’s upcoming 50th anniversary celebration. With new character-themed hotel rooms, attractions, and entertainment it’s likely that Disney will reap the benefits as much as new and current Annual Passholders as both groups get ready for the big day on October 1.
